SAMSON FIGHTING WITH THE LION (B. 2; M., HOLL. 107)

Woodcut, circa 1496-97, a good Meder c impression, though printing slightly unevenly in places, on paper with a Crest of Augsburg watermark (M. 178), framed
sheet: 385 by 280mm 15⅛ by 11in

Condition Report:
Trimmed to the borderline, in good condition, a small area along the lower borderline and the lower right corner made up and touched in with pen and ink, two short skilfully repaired horizontal tears at left (the longest measuring approx. 1cm) with associated Japan fibres recto, a further short horizontal repaired tear at right, intermittent thinned areas along each sheet edge, the verso with a small rust mark just showing through near the rightmost castle recto, framed.
