A richly illustrated edition of Alciatus' emblems.
8vo (170 x 105mm). Title page and text within architectural woodcut frames with masks, numerous allegorical illustrations in the text (title trimmed and reinforced at the margins with central stain, some staining, several browned pages, dampstaining on the final leaves, last leaf reinforced with numerous early erased inscriptions visible on the back). 18th-century vellum with speckled edges (some staining, spine worn). Provenance: antique noble blindstamped stamp on the first leaves and in ink on verso of title.

Frontespizio e testo entro cornici xilografiche architettoniche con mascheroni, numerose illustrazioni allegoriche nel testo (frontespizio rinforzato ai margini con macchia centrale, rifilato, qualche macchia nel testo, diverse pagine brunite, gore d'umidità alle ultime carte, ultima carta rinforzata con numerose cancellature antiche in inchiostro al retro visibili). Legatura del XVIII secolo in piena pergamena con tagli a spruzzo (macchie, dorso liso). Provenienza: Timbro nobiliare antico a secco alle prime carte e in inchiostro al retro del frontespizio..
