Frances Archipenko Gray has confirmed the authenticity of this painting.

LOT NOTES
This work is among the 30 or so works known by Archipenko from the period, providing a rare glimpse into the direction the artist's oeuvre was taking in the 1920s.

CONDITION
Observed in frame, the work is in fair to good condition. Overall surface dust and dirt. Fine age-appropriate craquelure with some resulting losses, such as to the cowl at the lower right and a spot in the lower left. Inspection under UV light shows limited and scattered retouching ot the right of the face and small areas at the perimeter, to no more than 5% of the overall surface.
