Hair, Alfred (1941-1970) Florida Highwaymen Painting. Oil on Orange Peel Upson - signed lower right. Wrought in full relief palette knife. Masterpiece Alfred Hair wetland scene from presumably Adams Ranch. Richly composed with the combined influences of Backus and Harold Newton. Harold's signature cloud to Backus's familiar ranch scene - this tropical sanctuary of flora and fauna is incised in great detail and commands the attention of his two mentors. A tincture of impressionist speckle suggest a cattle heard grazing in the horizon. An incredibly reaching depth of perspective. Ref: Backus "Tropical Lights "book pages 143-145 & 163.
