Lower on the back, two cartouches coeval to the painting with pen inscriptions. The first, on the left, incomplete and only partially decipherable, identifies the lady portrayed: "MR. SAMBRUZI (?) WIFE OF THE ECC.MO MINISTER IN ROME (?) (...)". The second, on the right, shows an attributive indication: "PAINTED BY FRANCESCO HAYEZ".
