AMERICAN BUFFALO POTTERY DELDARE CERAMIC SHIELD-BACK CANDLE HOLDER, having a cream ground with three men in colonial dress on back of interior with period houses on interior base and candle holder, with hand grip on back of shield, and signed "M.[abel] Gerhardt." Printed mark on base with Buffalo over sign reading "MADE AT / ye / BUFFALO / POTTERY / DELDARE WARE / UNDERGLAZE" and 1909 date mark. Buffalo Pottery Company, Buffalo, New York. Circa 1909.

Condition: Having moderate crazing, otherwise undamaged.

Size: 6 7/8" H.

Provenance: From the estate of Holton Rosenquist, Bradford, IL.Catalogue Note: Signed by Mabel Gerhardt, the eldest of two Gerhardt sisters, who were considered some of Buffalo Pottery's most skilled ceramic decorators.
