AMERICAN BUFFALO POTTERY EMERALD DELDARE DR. SYNTAX CERAMIC TEA SET, FIVE PIECES, comprising a covered teapot, signed "E. Missel", and a covered two-handled sugar, signed "L. Newman", each having scene "Dr. Syntax In The Wrong Lodging House", a creamer having scene "Dr. Syntax With the Dairymaid", signed "O. Shafer", and a cup and saucer having scenes "Dr. Syntax At Liverpool" and "Doctor Syntax and Bookseller.", signed "J.[esse] Gerhardt" and "J.G." Each with green printed mark on base "1911 / BUFFALO / POTTERY / EMERALD / DELDARE / WARE / UNDERGLAZE". Together with one teapot cover having Art Nouveau-style decoration. Six pieces total. Buffalo Pottery Company, Buffalo, New York. Circa 1911.

Condition: Three undamaged, except some with expected crazing and minor scattered scratches; creamer with wear to spout; one cover with minor flake to edge; teapot with professional restoration to spout; and cup with very minute flake to foot ring edge. Saucer with manufacturing flaws, including flakes to stilt marks, as made.

Size: 4 7/8" HOA.

Provenance: From the estate of Holton Rosenquist, Bradford, IL.Catalogue Note: Jesse Gerhardt was the younger of the two Gerhardt sisters who were some of Buffalo Pottery's most skilled decorators.
