AMERICAN CLASSICAL MAHOGANY SOFA, C. 1830
American, Philadelphia, Classical or Empire mahogany and mahogany veneer sofa in the manner of Anthony Gabriel Quervelle (French/American Philadelphia 1789-1856), circa 1830, having a carved back with fruiting cornucopia, blue and gold star upholstery, shell arm supports above drawers, and rising on front hairy paw feet, apparently unmarked.
Provenance: From the Private Collection of Kelly Holcomb, California.
Approximate dimensions: h. 35.25", w. 88.25", d. 25.5"; seat h. 18".
Condition Report: Scattered loss of carving to back as well as to veneer, later plastic knob with damages, no apparent tears or major wear to upholstery, back is unfinished, frame is structurally sound.
