AMERICAN DECORATED STONEWARE JARS, LOT OF TWO, salt-glazed, each having "2" gallon capacity mark, comprising a Western Pennsylvania example with rounded flat-top rim and Albany-slip glazed interior and a Mid-Atlantic example with squared rim and beaded neck ring. Each having cobalt brushed tulip and/or foliate decorations on both sides. Second half 19th century.
Condition: Pennsylvania example with heavy crack off back rim and faint radial hairlines, chip to interior rim and base, with some flakes to cobalt decoration; Mid-Atlantic example with moderate chips and flakes to rim with base hairline and approximate 11 1/2" L rim hairline.
Size: 12 3/4" H, 6 7/8" D rim.
