AMERICAN MAHOGANY SECRETARY DESK AND BOOKCASE, two-piece construction, the upper case featuring a broken arch pediment, molded cornice, arched raised-panel doors, and two pull-out candlestands at the base of the doors, interior fully fitted with adjustable shelves and many compartments, the lower case features a drop front with fitted interior over a three-over-two-over-two drawer configuration, the top two smallest drawers act as lopers and retain original slide-top lids indicative of their use as candle boxes, the whole raised on original ogee bracket feet. White cedar and pine secondary woods. Retains an old surface with warm color. Replaced brasses and finials. Probably an old marriage. Late 18th/first half 19th century. 88" HOA, 39" WOA, 22 1/4" DOA.
