Born in Oklahoma, when he was two his family moved to Denver, Colorado. He received a BFA from the University of Colorado and a MFA at the University of Illinois. In 1965 he accepted a position at San Jose State College where he taught in the art department for 23 years. He was well known in the Bay area and was a frequent exhibitor at various venues.
