The sea passport for merchant ship Hermoine with intact seal and scalloped upper edge, dated July 1, 1805, signed Thomas Jefferson, President and countersigned James Madison, Secretary of State.

Reads in part: 'By the President of the United States of America, Suffer the Ship Hermoine of Biddford (Maine), Solomon Hopkins master or commander; of the burden of Two hundred Twenty five g. 83/95 tons or thereabouts, mounted with No guns, navigated with Nine men .'

Includes a provenance and a Certificate of Authenticity from Nate D. Sanders.
