AN AMERICAN PRESENTATION SWORD, 76cm blade by SPARTAN etched with scrolling foliage, eagles, stands of arms and US, presentation panel to Walter C Berner, regulation three-bare steel hilt, bakelite grip, contained in its steel scabbard engraved Presented to W C Berner by enlisted men of Co. D 113th Infantry June 1 1935, together with an Imperial German sword etched In Treue Fest to either side, associated scabbard. (2) Walter Berner was the President of A. V. Berner & Co, a New York based freight company, he was also went on to become a Lt Colonel. The 113th Infantry were the New Jersey National Guard.
