AN ANTIQUE CHINESE POLYCHROME ON BLACK GROUND ENAMELED CLOISONNÉ BOTTLE FORM MELON VASE LAMP, EARLY 20TH CENTURY, the circular flat rim above a lobed neck and bulbous body ending over a conforming short flaring base, the colorfully enameled sides on a black ground with graduated fretwork interspersed with auspicious blossoming and fruiting foliage, above oval reserves, centering lotus bloom topped circular shou symbols amidst delicate scrolling vines and flanked by spread-winged bats, over a band of lotus flowers alternating similarly detailed bats and raised on a flaring foot enclosing continuous floral curling vines, height: 12 1/4", diameter: 8"; mounted on a carved hardwood stand and surmounted by a modern pierced brass shou symbol finial, fitted for electricity and a custom black silk pleated shade with bullion thread trim, total height: 28", diameter: 13 1/4". Note: A virtually identical black ground cloisonne vase lamp was sold by Elite Auctioneers of Boca Raton, FL, on Oct 15, 2019, lot 243 for $1,300.
Condition Report: Good condition with some expected light gilding wear revealing copper base metal and normal light surface wear as well as buildup in crevices.
