AN ARCHAISTIC BRONZE RITUAL TRIPOD VESSEL, DING
Qing Dynasty or early , Chinese bronze tripod censer, ding-form, featuring two upright loop handles and three tapered legs. The body is cast with decorative bands in a geometric archaistic motif. The surface exhibits a mottled green patina with areas of reddish oxidation consistent with age and later surface treatment. The censer is accompanied by a carved rosewood pierced cover decorated with scrolling foliate motifs, surmounted by a green jadeite finial, as well as a carved rosewood openwork stand. The components appear to be assembled as a decorative set, typical of scholar’s studio or interior display pieces. Total Height: 12 inches. Height of Bronze vessel only : 8 inches. Diameter: 6 inches.
Condition
Overall good decorative condition. The bronze shows surface wear, oxidation, patina variations, and areas of pitting consistent with age and later surface treatment. No visible structural cracks observed. The wooden cover and stand show typical wear, surface abrasions, and minor age-related imperfections. The finial with minor surface wear.
