AN ARCHAISTIC WHITE JADE ‘MANDARIN DUCK AND LOTUS’ VASE AND COVER
QING DYNASTY, 18TH CENTURY
The group is carved in the form of a duck with its neck turn sharply backwards, clasping a lotus stem in its beak, with a two-handled vase emerging from its back. The body is incised with archaistic 'C' scrolls and stylised geometric motifs. The stone is of an exceptionally pale tone, with some minor areas of light streaked inclusions.
