AN ART NOUVEAU PATINATED AND PAINTED SPELTER BLACK MARBLE CLOCK, after EMILE GUILLEMIN (French 1841-1907), JAPY FRÈRES, CLOCKWORKS, POITIERS AND PARIS, EARLY 20TH CENTURY, "Fleurs d'Été(Flowers of Summer)," the swirling contrapposto classically draped figure of a maiden upholding a bouquet in one hand and in the opposing she grasps her skirt which is filled with flora, the base signed in bronze "L. Guillemin," and with foundry pastille, "Fabrication Francaise, Made in France, Paris," at back, she stands atop a square stepped base fitted with whiplash fruiting grapevine ormolu mounts and centering a white enameled dial painted with a bouquet spray and black Arabic hour and quarter-hour marks, signed, "Brain, Poitiers," the clockworks with a pastille "Japy Frères Grand Médaille d'Honneur," with numbers 40790 and 3-5. Height: 26" Width: 11" Depth: 5 1/2" Provenance: Lifelong Collection of Clocks and Antiques, Navasota, Texas.
Condition Report: Minor rubbing to patinated finish and paint, a notable spot at leg, an old repair to buttress ormolu mount, with some minor expected losses, dust debris, and wear, but overall in good to very good condition, wear commensurate with age and use.
