AN ATTRACTIVE PLAINS STYLE SPLIT HORN BONNET, POSSIBLY 1890. Sinew-sewn hide cover with sinew and lazy-stitch beaded headband on red dyed trade cloth and banded in brass tacks. Faded ribbon and ermine drops. The horns incised, polychrome and brass tack decorated, terminating in braided horsehair beaded drops with remnants of silk ribbon. Dyed wool trailer with sewn geometric applique banding, set with trade bells and overall covered with dyed red horsehair. A very attractive piece. Overall height from crown to tip of trailer 28 inches.
