AN EGYPTIAN SERPENTINE FIGURE OF A BABOON, 26TH/30TH DYNASTY, 664-342 B.C.

sacred to the moon god Thoth, seated with his forepaws resting on the knees, the details of his cape-like mass of fur and wide radiating ruff incised, a hole on top of the head for attachment of the now missing headdress.
Height 10 cm.
