AN ELI TERRY & SONS PILLAR AND SCROLL SHELF CLOCK
The 1820s Plymouth, Connecticut ribbon mahogany shelf clock has two turned columns along each side and a scroll pediment with three brass urn finials above the glazed door that opens to the original wooden dial having gold enamel federal shields and other decoration in high relief around the Arabic numeral chapter ring. The reverse-painted lower glass with town scene fronts the interior with printed paper maker's label stating in part, Patent Clocks, Invented by Eli Terry. Made and Sold by E. Terry and Sons. Thirty-hour wooden movement with pendulum and two cast iron weights.
Measures 30 x 17 x 4.5 inches.
