AN ENGLISH PATE-SUR-PATE AMPHORA AND PAIR OF EWERS BY ALBION BIRKS, MINTONS, STOKE-UPON-TRENT, 1916

each oviform, with fluting along the neck and feet, the covered amphora two-handled, the lip of the ewers of undulating organic design, with handles supported by satyr faces, each decorated overall in chocolate-brown, partly gilt, featuring an allegorical female figure against a salmon-colored ground, with ribbon motifs throughout and acanthus leaves along the bases, each signed A. Birks for Albion Birks on plinths in each cartouche, each with overglaze gilt factory mark, the amphora with impressed factory mark, the ewers with impressed date cypher, the amphora and ewer (with putti flying through a hoop) with overglaze model no. 1422; height of amphora: 33 cm (13 in.), height of ewers: 28 cm (11 in.)

CONDITION
The set is in overall very good original condition. Some very fine scratches to the middle of the amphora body on verso. Scuffing to under the bases and the stopper. Inspection under UV light reveals no apparent signs of restoration
