AN ENGLISH TWO-HANDLED PERSIAN-STYLE VASE, ROYAL CROWN DERBY, DERBY, 1887

of bottle form with elaborately pierced angular upright handles, the bowl-shaped mouth with stylized Arabic strapwork, the tall tapering neck and handles with sunflowers on a seeded gilt ground, the lower body with a continuous design of raised gilt iris and sunflowers shaded in green, iron-red and powdered gilt to resemble metallics against a cobalt-blue ground, iron-red crowned factory mark and date cypher for 1887, incised shape no. 564 and B under base; height: 38 cm (15 in.)
