AN EXCEPTIONAL PETTIPOINT PURSE WITH HAND ENGRAVED

The very, very high quality example with a number of exceptional details ranking above and beyond any similar examples; the theme of an 18th century English genre begins with an elaborate and highly detailed petit point embroidery scene of figures in a detailed interior gathered around a fortepiano, the exterior view of an English manor on the opposite side, this theme is repeated on the elaborate hand cut and engraved metal clasp handle in the form of a stately home embellished with prong-set marcasites, the face of the frame is mounted with cut openwork rococo scrolls, the frame is embellished with all-over hand engraved decoration and presumably rhodium plated, the interior is kid leather, no markings were found.

Purse measures 6 x 7 inches, 5.5-inch drop from the handle.
