AN EXTREMELY FINE SIGNED SILK HEREKE PRAYER RUG, TURKEY approx: 4ft.10in. x 3ft.4in.(147cm. x 102cm.) The ivory field with stylised flowering vas flanked by floral sprays and plants. Apricot floral mihrab above. In stylised linked floral and arabesque cartouche border between rosette and leafy vine stripes. Outer plain stripe. This rug has full pile of soft and shiny silk and is in very good condition throughout. Ends with embroidered kilim and fringes, original. Selvages also original. Extremely fine weave, approx: 11 x 11 knots per sq. cm; woven on silk foundation. Very good colour combination. signature at one end. Elegant and very attractive piece.
