Arabic manuscript on paper, 274 leaves plus 1 fly-leaves, 15 lines to the page, written in naskh in black ink within clouds against a gold ground, ruled in gold, black and gold, verses separated by gold round, surah headings in white rounded cursive against a gold ground within cartouches outlined in green, gold and blue verse markes in the margins, f.1b and f.2a with a polychrome and gold incipit frame, six additional double-page with gold illuminated margins consisting of interlacing scrolls and flowers marking each manzil, f.272b and f.273a with a finispiece bifolium decorated with gold margins, in leather gilt and stamped binding
22.5 by 12.7cm.
Condition Report:
In overall good condition, the margins are clean, with only minor annotations and restorations affecting mainly the lower side; the incipit page with minor losses to the painting and minor stains throughout, minor areas of restoration mainly to the corners and a small tear affecting the inside border of f.1b; minor smudges to the texts, and several later notes on the last folios. The binding with scratches and losses, as viewed.
