AN ILLUMINATED QUR’AN, COPIED BY MUSTAFA HELMI IBN HAMAD, STUDENT OF MEHMED KAMIL, TURKEY, OTTOMAN, DATED 1260 AH/1844-45 AD

Arabic manuscript on paper, 317 leaves plus 5 fly-leaves, 15 lines to the page, written in naskh in black ink, ruled in gold, black and red, verses separated by pointed gold roundels, surah headings in white rounded cursive against a gold ground within cartouches, occasional gold and polychrome verse markes in the margins, f.1b and f.2a with a rococo illuminated fronstispiece, in leather gilt and stamped binding, with flap

21.3 by 13.6cm.

Condition Report:
In general good condition, the margins are clean, minor smudges and stains, the binding with losses to the gilt, as viewed.
