Rifled, round, 15 mm cal. barrel, (still visible groove), with octagonal base marked "1863", "V", "P", "C" and with eagle head, adjustable rear sight and foresight; forward spring lock marked "US COLT'S PT. T A MFG C.O HARTFORD CT." and with year "1863"; full wooden stock (butt marked "P O 329", and with various stamps) with iron mounts and ramrod, butt- plate marked "US".
