shallow oblong box carved of purpurine with gold borders, the cover mounted with a micromosaic oval panel of an infant Bacchus seated on a barrel and young companion pointing towards a mountain, a copse of trees behind
marked on flange
length: 3¼ inches (8 cm)

Condition Report:
Some faint cracking below the gold lip mount on the left side of the box suggesting that there has been some restoration at that point, now with faint cracking. Also some restoration to the back below the hinge and to the front above the thumbpiece; however, neither of these are noticeable. The micromosaic in good condition.
