AN OTTOMAN BALKAN DAGGER WITH FOLIATE SILVER SCABBARD, 19TH C.
The dagger is in a typical Ottoman style and has a silver scabbard with foliate repoussé decoration, the handle being similarly decorated, and the pommel of a flattened shape with stamped decoration, possibly an Arabic character. There is a ring from which to hang the dagger at the throat of the scabbard. The curved blade bears an inscription in Arabic script along its length on both sides.
