AN OTTOMAN SILVER TRAY WITH SULTAN ABDUL HAMID II TUGHRA

Of oval shape, with ridged everted rim, the incised decoration consisting of vegetal sprays, cusped palmettes and lush tendrils against a chased ground, in the centre a laurel crown framing the tughra of Sultan Abdul Hamid II (r. 1876 - 1909) surrounded by five-pointed stars and a flower rising from green tuft, assay, tughra and sah marks on the whole surface both in the front and back, 38.5cm x 29.3cm.
