AN UNUSUAL CHINESE BAMBOO ARCHAISTIC VESSEL, DING
QIANLONG 1736-95
Raised on four ruyi-shaped legs, the quatre lobed body carved in low relief with panels containing pairs of confronting kuifeng beneath a key-fret band, and flanked by a pair of curved handles, 14.5cm.
Provenance: from the collection of Dr John William Hawksley Grice OBE (1891–1976) and thence by descent. Formerly on loan to the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, Grice loan number 9.
