AN UNUSUAL POLYCHROME PORCELAIN BRUSHREST
Kangxi period (1662-1722)
Of semi-circular section with five sharp peaks, the out-curving face painted with an entirely iron-red ground with confronted striding dragons in underglaze blue with green enameled bodies and pale orange heads amidst dense fire-scrolls, the incurving face centered by a one large carp and two smaller carp in underglaze blue with pale sepia bodies, rising from multiple breaking waves enameled in green and sepia, multiple cloud scrolls in underglaze blue to each of the peaks reserved against an iron-red ground, the base unglazed and firing a pale orange.
6in (15.3cm) across; 4 1/16in (10.1cm) high, wood stand, cloth box
