ANDY WARHOL PRODUCTION. JOE DALLESSANDRO AND GERALDINE SMITH - II
During the filming of Paul Morrissey's movie "Flesh," produced by Andy Warhol, 1968.
Photo, vintage color print, stamped on the back.
30.3 x 23.8 cm.
Staple holes in the corners.
Note: Joe Dallesandro plays Joe, a young New York male prostitute tasked with raising the money needed for his girlfriend Geri’s abortion, played by Geraldine Smith. Over the course of a day, he encounters various clients and figures from Manhattan’s underground scene. Shot on a shoestring budget and largely based on improvisation, *Flesh* adopts a free-form style reminiscent of cinéma vérité. Produced under the auspices of Andy Warhol, the film establishes Dallesandro as a figure of the counterculture and marks the beginning of Paul Morrissey’s informal trilogy, which continued with *Trash* and *Heat*. Geraldine Smith was also part of the Factory’s circle of “superstars.”
