Both composers were part of the informal group 'Groupe des Six', which also included Louis Durey, Arthur Honegger and, as the only woman, Germaine Tailleferre. This informal group initially wanted to get rid of the romantic influences of Debussy, Strauss or Wagner and found close connection with modernist movements and authors such as Jean Cocteau.

Beide componisten maakten deel uit van de informele groep 'Groupe des Six', waarbij ook Louis Durey, Arthur Honegger en als enige vrouw Germaine Tailleferre hoorden.
