A pair of six-panel folding screens; each ink, colour, gofun and gold leaf on paper, the right screen decorated with a male and female silver pheasant beside a blossoming plum tree, with further birds perched on branches and blooming red and pink peonies; the left screen with two male and one female golden pheasant beside a pine tree and river, surrounded by pink and white peonies, mountaintops shrouded in gold clouds are visible in the distance on both screens, the evergreen pine tree, bamboo and plum forming shochikubai (The Three Friends of Winter), gilded copper mounts on black lacquer frames
