These photographs, on single-weight paper with a faint sheen, exhibit a rich tonality with inky blacks and bright, creamy highlights. Individual condition notes are as follows:

'The Abode of Snow':
This photograph is in generally very good condition. The sheet is rippled overall and and the margins are very faintly soiled. There is a thin band of silvering along the lower, left, and right edges in the darkest areas of the print. The reverse is annotated in pencil in an unidentified hand '64102.'

'Milestone Mountain':
This photograph is in generally excellent condition. The margins are faintly sunned at the image periphery. There is insignificant margin and corner wear. There are two adhesive remnants at the lower margin corners. This photograph is accompanied by an original mount, which is age-darkened, soiled, and worn at the edges. There are scattered adhesive remnants and two modern plastic photo corners.
