Large album with gold gilt edges containing a collection of rare antique XIX Century analogue film printed photographs completely hand painted or tinted. Most of the collection of images are from Italy, but you can find photos from Istanbul, Athens and Paris. The origin of this kind of albums or cabinet collections is found on the Grand Tour Of Europe, a trip were young men and more rarely women from wealthy or aristocratic families had a long trip across the Mediterranean cities of Europe in a cultural and aesthetic learning journey. The most common was to frame each plate on a personal office or studio, so the fact that this lot is still in the album format is a rarity itself. Invaluable historical and graphic document.
