ANTIQUE JAPANESE LATE MEIJI IMARI PORCELAIN VASE
An antique Japanese, late Meiji era, hand enamel porcelain vase. The vase has an urn shaped body with a pronounced neck. The ware is hand painted with Imari decor depicting a Phoenix bird surrounded by blossoming flowers in red and blue shades. The vase is decorated with a crackled design. Imari ware is a Western term for a brightly coloured style of Japanese export porcelain from the Arita region in the 17 to 18th centuries. Unmarked.
