ANTIQUE JAPANESE MEIJI CLOISONNE ENAMEL CHARGER

An antique Japanese enamel over copper charger plate, Meiji era, 1868 to 1912. The plate is adorned with a polychrome enamel image of a mythical creature Tengu on a turquoise ground made in the Cloisonne technique. The border is covered with polychrome enamel floral and foliate scroll ornaments made in the same technique. The backside is decorated with a swirl motif on a turquoise ground. Unmarked.
