ANTIQUE NEAR LIFE SIZED CHINESE CLOISONNE TOMB GUARDIAN

Two near life-size 19th century cloisonne enamel tomb guardians profusely decorated in polychrome enamels employing a very large number of brightly colored scroll, floral and zoomorphic motifs enhancing the patinated brass face and hands modeled in great detail. The belt of each figure is adorned with agate and other semiprecious cabochons (two missing from the belt of one figure). Each figure holds an accoutrement - a sword with cloisonne hilt in one case - and a brightly colored cloisonne staff on the other. Each is raised on a wood base.

Measure approximately 72 x 26 x 22 and 68 x 26 x 22 inches overall with the wood base.

Condition Report: Very good condition, noting that one lists noticeably to one side, both stand loosely connected to their cloisonne base and are unsteady. No major damage, loss or repair.
