An antique 19th-century Russian Orthodox icon representing Saint Nicholas of Myra, one of the most celebrated saints of the Orhodox church. Mixed media painting: egg tempera, gesso, and levkas on a wood board with kovcheg, gilt background and details. St. Nicholas is flanked with depictions of Christ and the Mother of God, with Saint Artemy and Saint Marina on sides of the kovcheg. Each character is named in Church Slavonic.
