ANTIQUE RUSSIAN SILVER ENAMEL CHRIST ICON PENDANT

An antique 19th century Russian Orthodox travel icon pendant representing Christ Pantocrator. Egg tempera painting on gesso and wood decorated with 84 gilt Silver riza or oklad featuring hand chased and polychrome Champleve enamel frame. According to the canon, Jesus is depicted in a simple robe, holding in his left hand an orb and a scepter, as symbols of supreme power while his right hand is raised in a gesture of blessing. Marked with an 84 Russian Silver standard and a Vladimirov mark. A suspension ring is on the top. Antique Russian Religious Items and Collectibles. Weight 37 g.
