Antique-style decorative brass balance scale featuring an ornate scrolling support with foliate terminals, a suspended graduated weighing beam, hanging hook, and counterweight. The asymmetrical design displays a warm aged brass patina and rests on a substantial turned gray-and-white veined marble pedestal base. The underside of the brass beam bears several impressed marks, including an oval mark appearing to read "RIV" and additional indistinct stamps. Exact maker, age, and original purpose have not been verified. Surface wear, oxidation, and patina consistent with age and use. Mechanical accuracy and completeness have not been tested.
