ANTIQUE / VINTAGE LOUIS VUITTON LEATHER HARDSHELL SUITCASE, light brown leather exterior with "M" initials and various travel labels / stickers, including one from 1934 for the Berengaria with the passenger name "George B. Mar[kle]" and others having the Markle last name listed, retains original marked brass hardware, lined interior featuring original Louis Vuitton label with serial number 758793, key not included. Circa 1920s. 30 1/4" x 19" x 9" OA.
Catalogue Note: George Bushar Markle III (1890-1970) came from a wealthy and prominent Hazleton, Pennsylvania family, who had business dealings in the coal mine, railroad, and banking industries.
Condition Report: Good overall condition with moderate to heavy wear to exterior expected from use, many labels/stickers with losses and discoloration, some spots of oxidation to metal, interior mostly in very good condition with minor to moderate wear and surface marks, possible patch or original covering to lining at center corresponding to center lock, lacking key, locking mechanism in unknown working condition.
