Very rare first & only edition (printed in Stockholm by “Imprimerie Bröderna Lagerström”) of an archaeological report by the Swedish archaeologists Knut Hjalmar Stolpe (1841-1905) & Ture Algot Johnsson Arne (1879-1965) concerning the excavations at the Viking-age site Vendel, a village in Uppland in Sweden. The illustrations were designed by the Swedish artist Olof Sörling (1852-1927) depicting i.a. helmets, shields, swords & tools. Ex bibliotheca Dr. Maria Frederika Jongkees-Vos (1933-2018, Dutch archaeologist). – Wrappers partly discol., a few small waterstains on spine, but nevertheless in good condition.
