[ translate ]

Archive of Anthony C. Woods that consists of 2 footlockers from his military service. Woods was commissioned in the United States Army as a 2nd lieutenant and began the Armor Officer Basic Course at Fort Knox, Kentucky, in July 2003. While there, he volunteered for his first deployment to Iraq to lead a platoon of National Guard soldiers. Woods deployed to the Diyala province of Iraq, where he served for 11 months and returned from this deployment in January, 2005. From there, he was transferred from Fort Bragg to Fort Carson, Colorado. Later that year, he made his second deployment to Iraq with the 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment. He eventually studied at Harvard and, shortly after graduation, reported to Fort Knox, Kentucky, for the Armor Captain's Career Course. He was subsequently discharged under the government's now-repealed “Don't Ask, Don't Tell” policy despite earning several prestigious awards while serving his country. Woods is also Whitehouse fellow, served under governor Paterson in New York, and worked with the Hillary Clinton campaign during her presidential run. The group is a mix of items from his service including photos, uniform pieces, ephemera, documents, etc. All items exhibit blemishes that are typical of service wear and storage. CONDITION: Good-very good.
