ATTRACTIVE INSCRIBED NEW YORK ENGRAVED COLT 1849

PERCUSSION REVOLVER. Cal. 31. S#. 76909. Mfg. 1853. This attractively New York engraved revolver is stylized with a donut scroll that covers 60% of it's surfaces and features a period inscription S.C.LUM CHICAGO,ILL along the back strap. It is fit with a 5" oct bbl with nick & dot border at the muzzle, donut scroll on the breech flats, & engraved SAML. COLT in a stylized font on the top flat. The frame is almost entirely covered in donut scroll with a stamped COLTS/PATENT marking. 5-shot round cylinder with stagecoach scene. Trigger guard bow is engraved en suite with a nick & dot border. 1-piece ivory stocks. Matching numbered bbl, arbor, loading lever, straps, & cylinder. A punch dot is found under the frame, trigger guard & backstrap. CONDITION: Overall very good. The engraving is very nice with the finish fading to an even grey patina. The cylinder retains 85% of its cylinder scene with some mottled old oxidation spots. Backstrap retains 20% of the plating. The trigger guard retains 80% of the plating. Good grips with penciled number that is difficult to read. Dark bore with pitting. (01-29883/ZAL) ANTIQUE $3000-4000
