A PURPLE TULIP WITH A BEETLE AND AN ORANGE TULIP WITH A BUTTERFLY: A PAIR OF BOTANICAL STUDIES

both gouache on vellum
the first, 11 by 7 ¾ in.; 280 by 196 mm
the second, 11 ⅜ by 7 ⅞ in.; 288 by 200 mm

Condition Report:
Both hinge mounted to modern cream mounts and sold framed.
A purple tulip with a beetle) Some scattered water stains to the sheet and some small nicks to the extremities. There is a small tear to the upper half of the left edge (circa 4mm long) and a small pin prick hole to the upper centre. The work remains in otherwise good condition with the media stable throughout.
An orange tulip with a butterfly) Some noticeable abrasions to the extremities particularly to the upper corners and lower right edge. There are some losses of gouache to the left section of the tulip, however the work remains in otherwise fair condition.
