The 14" silvered engraved dial having outer minutes and dual 24-hour dial surrounding subsidiary hours and seconds dials fronting a substantial chamfered plated month duration movement with six double screwed pillars, six-spoke wheels and high pinion count, deadbeat escapement and Harrison maintaining power all covered by a brass framed glazed dust protector. The pendulum of typical 'Arnold' type with a large rectangular void in the centre of the huge lead-filled brass bob on a large zinc compensated tube 199.5cm high - Provenance; Formally located in the Officer's Mess of the Royal Artillery, Woolwich until sold off along with other fixtures and fittings in the 1990s When positioned in the Officer's Mess and regularly included in the visitor's tour of Greenwich Observatory.
