AUSTRIA - A Hussar's flintlock carbine, Model 1798
Round, conical barrel with a smooth bore, 18 mm caliber. Ground down above the chamber; machining marks behind the front barrel ring (a repaired crack?). Flintlock with a recessed hammer safety. Solid walnut stock with brass fittings. Stock shows significant signs of wear; the screw on the underside of the front barrel ring has been replaced. Rear barrel ring made of iron, merging into an iron trigger guard. Length 84.5 cm.
